(Episode 128 of) Cinema Smackdown – Nightcrawler/Interstellar

Cinema Smackdown
By Bret Dorman and Kate Peterson

This week, Kate and Bret discuss character likeability and names, story structure and over the top endings, as well as ethics and space travel. We change the layout to include two great films this time! First we talk about Nightcrawler where Jake Gyllenhaal completely transforms himself into a man with some sociopathic tendencies but also some relatable passions? Both Kate and Bret agree this movie is worth seeing! Then we move into a more split discussion. Is Interstellar Nolan’s blatest and most best masterpiece? Or is it “just” a great film? Either way it is also worth seeing and the movie is bound to bring up many conversational talking points. Thanks for listening!

And as always, Boyle has a unique version of space and what comes with it, including heroic sacrifices. Here’s a scene:

Next Episode will most likely be Under The Skin and Hunger Games!

Thanks for listening!
